On the 26th of November the 2014 Pride of essex Awards were held and from a wealth of stiff competition the Provincial Grand Lodge of Essex was awarded the 2014 Pride of Essex Award (category Top Team Community). This award was made in recognition of the extensive charitable work carried out by Essex Freemasons with regular donations in excess of £1,000,000 made each and every year to a large number of local charities.
The following is a communication from Provincial Grand Lodge regarding the award:
Last night at the Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford the Provincial Grand Lodge of Essex received the 2014 Pride of Essex Award (category Top Team Community Award) from Lord Petre, Lord Lieutenant of Essex and Paul Dent-Jones, Editor of the Essex Chronicle.
The awards were organised to honour achievement by individuals, children and organisations who have contributed to the community of Essex during the last year.
Our award was sponsored by the Essex Chronicle and the Province has received a certificate and glass trophy on behalf of you all.
The award cited the £1 million raised every year by Essex Freemasons and donated to over 500 different local charities.
What makes the award so special to us is that Essex Freemasons were nominated privately by the public to receive the award alongside many other organisations such as Rotary, Round Table etc. However, in the opinion of the judges, the Provincial Grand Lodge and Essex Masons had made the greatest contribution to the community in 2014 and so won the “Top Team Community Award” It is the first time that our contribution to the Essex community has ever been publicly acknowledged in this way
Naturally you should all absolutely proud and delighted
